Ben Oakshaw is a gifted young American actor. Abandoning his intense affair with the brilliant, unconventional Jill, he marries Priscilla. Years later, Priscilla and Ben meet Jill again, and Priscilla, completely unaware of her prior relationship with Ben, invites Jill and her companion to join Ben and herself at their summer beach house. Ben briefly resumes his love affair with Jill, but there are surprising and terrible consequences to Ben's self-absorption and betrayal.
