Esta obra saca a la luz importantes hallazgos documentales y gráficosrelacionados con la ciudad de Linares a finales del siglo XIX. Por un lado,analiza el inicio y proceso de implantación de la entonces novedosa energíaeléctrica, que poco a poco va sustituyendo al gas en el alumbrado público. Ypor otro, en este contexto, analiza las visitas realizadas por Isaac Peral aLinares entre los años 1890 y 1893, visitas que evidencian cómo se diluyó,en muy poco tiempo, la alta consideración que tenía en el imaginarionacional como inventor del torpedero submarino. Del análisis de ambasestampas emergen dos sugestivas figuras locales, prácticamentedesconocidas hasta la fecha, cuyas inquietudes y personalidades no dejaránindiferente al lector.This book brings to light important graphic and documentary findings relatedto the city of Linares at the end of the 19th century. On the one hand, itanalyses the beginning and process of implementation of the then novelelectrical energy, which gradually replaced gas in public lighting. On the otherhand, but in this same context, the work also analyses the visits made by IsaacPeral to Linares between 1890 and 1893, visits that show how the high regardhe had in the national imagination as the inventor of the submarine torpedoboat was diluted in a very short time.
